Abseil Access was engaged to conduct Trustpowers periodic Spillway concrete condition inspection at the Matahina Dam. The work had to be completed in a set timeframe to minimize the exposure risk of any flooding event. The requirement to vacate the spillway within 15min was another challenge that had to be managed.
The project consisted of rope access, visual inspection and photographic reporting, assisting Riley Consultant Engineers with access, assisting Southern Geophysical to conduct impulse response testing to detect subsurface defects in the concrete.
