In 2002, parent company Holcim made the choice to eliminate the Milburn brand and needed to repaint and rebrand facilities across New Zealand.
Abseil Access Ltd was contracted to remove all the existing Milburn logos and replace them with the new 3 colours Holcim super graphic. This nationwide project involved 17 logos across 9 sites, on steel and concrete silos up to 40m high.
Many of the sites required a full white undercoating before the graphics could be applied so the Abseil Access mobilised three teams of signwriting, industrial rope access technicians that moved around the country to complete the project within the time frame. Resene paints were chosen for the project and supplied UV stabilised epoxy acrylics compatible with the variety of existing coatings encountered.
A combination of project management, logistics management combined with environmental and safety management was required to plan the project execution phase with industrial rope access, specialist access, painting, blasting and signwriting required to deliver the program of works. The project was completed on time, on budget and with a perfect safety record.
