This project had it all — helicopters, 4WD hiabs, utes, mountain bikes… and a whole lot of determination. Getting our team and materials onsite was an adventure in itself, with the crew living in tents for up to 10 days at a time and using a backcountry hut as our kitchen and lounge.
Against the odds, and in the depths of winter, we faced rainstorms, snow, -6°C nights, and relentless sandflies. But the team dug deep and delivered a swing bridge we’re incredibly proud of — now part of the St James Cycleway.
